On Saturday the 3rd October 2009, the Brigade held their annual dinner and awards ceremony. We had a number of guests from Neighboring Brigades attend the dinner along with Bill Watson from the VFBV and the General Manager from Yarra Area, Region 13 Lex De Man.
Lex spoke to the guests about the fires on Black Saturday and the following weeks and made special thanks to the families and partners of the firefighters. He also spoke of the Royal Commission and some of the recommendations that have come of it so far. Hillard’s Roasting Spits provided a wonderful dinner of Roast Pork and Roast Beef that just melted in your mouth. There was even second helpings for some, even a race between a father and his son to get to the line first. The Awards presented on the evening were Auxiliary - 12 years – Mrs K Sargent
